Crypto King Spent $16.3 Million Of Investor Funds On Luxury Lifestyle, Court Hears

TL;DR: A Canadian court has heard evidence that self-described Crypto King Aiden Pleterski spent about $16.3 million of investor money on personal expenses. He has pleaded not guilty, and the criminal trial remains ongoing.

A Canadian court has heard striking testimony about luxury spending allegedly financed by money entrusted to a self-described cryptocurrency trading expert.

A forensic accountant said Aiden Pleterski received tens of millions of dollars from investors while comparatively little of the money was directed to trading accounts.

The evidence described expenditures on expensive vehicles, travel and other personal expenses. Pleterski has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges he faces.

What The Court Heard

According to the accountant’s review, approximately $36.3 million was collected from investors during the period examined.

A substantial portion was allegedly spent on personal purchases or used to make payments to other investors rather than being deployed as promised into cryptocurrency and foreign exchange trading.

The prosecution has argued that those transactions misrepresented how customers’ money was being handled.

But the case remains before the court. Witness testimony and prosecution allegations must not be presented as a final conviction.

The proceedings have also drawn attention because Pleterski was previously the victim of a widely reported kidnapping and assault linked to the financial dispute.

The Wider Warning

The case illustrates a problem that has appeared repeatedly in cryptocurrency investment schemes: individuals may promise sophisticated trading returns without offering adequate evidence of how customer funds are stored or invested.

Independent custody, credible reporting and clear legal rights matter as much as an attractive advertised strategy.

The jury will decide whether the evidence presented establishes criminal wrongdoing. Until then, the details remain allegations and testimony within an active prosecution.
