The new product, dubbed uMINT, is a strategic move for UBS, which currently manages over $5.7 trillion in assets. The fund will be available through select distribution partners, bridging conventional banking with digital innovation.

UBS Tokenize Platform

The launch is part of UBS’s broader strategy under its own tokenization platform, UBS Tokenize, which focuses on digitizing traditional capital market instruments like bonds, funds, and structured products. This initiative follows a successful pilot program in Singapore last year to test a tokenized Variable Capital Company fund.

Industry Impact

Thomas Kaegi, co-head of UBS Asset Management Asia-Pacific, stated, “We have seen growing investor appetite for tokenized financial assets across asset classes. Through leveraging our global capabilities and collaborating with peers and regulators, we can now provide clients with an innovative solution.”

Future Prospects

The move by UBS is part of a broader trend among traditional financial institutions entering the digital asset sector. With the growing interest in decentralized finance (DeFi), UBS’s entry into tokenized funds is expected to pave t uphe way for more mainstream adoption of blockchain technology in traditional finance.
